Types of Sailboats

Well,

 Types of sailboat is  an intro category head for the blog.

We are talking about fast sailing here, so the best types of sailboat for us are multihull: catamaran and trimaran. And monohull: the high tech composites hull with huge sailplan.

For multihull, we can think at the 2 out of space ac33 boats: Alinghi5 and Bor. The new Banque Populaire and Also Groupama3. The orma 60, the Hydroptere down to the A-class catamaran.

For monohull we can think of supermaxi like Wild Oats, volvo 70, open 60, tp52, sportboat down to the moth anomaly.

And of course anything in between. 

Add go fast features like canting kell, wing rotating mast, huge asymetric spinnaker, square top mainsail, hard sail so you get hte picture of modern fast sailing.

Sailboat Building

As the first post in this new blog, I would like to show what a single boat designer and builder can do.  Please meet Jim Donovan.  He is posting about his work on Sailing Anarchy forum. This site and its forum is one of the best place on the net for passionate sailors of all kind.

So Jim Donovan is building an high tech carbon sandwich 6.5 meters racing sailboat. And regularly, we can see photos and comments about the work in progress. This is this kind of thread that keeps me go everyday on Sailing Anarchy.
